Fire Marshal - Fire WardenTraining
Fire Marshal/Warden Presentation
Persons responsible in Scotland should make adequate provision for delivering comprehensive and relevant information and training for staff commesurate to their responsibility within the organisation.
Areas of consideration:
(a) Appropriate procedures to be taken in the event of an emergency
(b) Competent persons to secure evacuation
In the event of a fire within any premises someone must be available to co-ordinate and conduct evacuation procedures and the summoning of the Fire & Rescue Service. It would be unreasonable to expect evacuation to be performed on an ad hoc basis, it is expected that all but the smallest of premises will conduct this activity through a nominated Fire Marshal or Fire Warden who should expect training beyond general awareness training given to all staff, so as to undertake his duties competently. The Fire Marshal or Fire Warden duty is normally undertaken by experienced or supervisory staff who may also have a Health and Safety background although this is not a pre-requisite to the post.
